What Would You Do If You Lost Your Freedom?
With the Fourth of July holiday approaching, I’ve been pondering the gift of freedom. Synchronistically, one of our very own Enchanted Journeyers, following my prompt in the June 4th newsletter to “Gather Your Books For Summer Reading,” sent me her true crime story book.
Linda Case, author of The Fugitive’s Sister, lost her freedom because of one decision she made to choose loyalty to family over truth. Linda “made a promise to her brother on his deathbed to take care of their younger sister, Becky. Two days following his funeral, Becky’s company was raided by the FBI and shut down. Becky soon disappeared and became one of America’s Most Wanted fugitives. She then contacted Linda for help. Raised to protect and support her family ‘no matter what,’ Linda’s commitment ultimately landed her in jail. As Becky lived the high-life in another country, Linda struggled to maintain her sanity behind bars. Intense and intertwined, Linda’s unusual true crime story reveals how quickly an American Dream can become an American Nightmare.”
I invite you to think about how precious freedom is to you, and if you want to read a compelling story, The Fugitive’s Sister is available on amazon.com, Barnes & Noble and other bookstores.
Have a safe and Happy Fourth!
