Have You Performed an Energy Check on Yourself?
Every season you likely have your filters checked and changed in order for your heating and air conditioning to function properly and remain energy efficient. You check the batteries in your flashlights. But do you perform an energy check on yourself?
This week is a great time to do it. Whether you celebrate Chanukah (next week) or Christmas (two weeks later) the holidays are just around the corner. Even in the midst of COVID there is much to be done.
Now is not the time to compromise your immune system. So perform an energy check on yourself. Are you getting enough sleep? If not, pick a night or two and tuck in earlier than usual. Nap, if possible. Send the Dragons out to play who say you’re being lazy. They’re wrong.
Are you eating nutritious meals? Of course there are less than healthy holiday traditions and you can allow a scant few but please don’t mindlessly indulge, especially if you’re trying to make up for the lost fun of 2020 in this ways. Challenge yourself to revise some favorite dishes with a healthier twist. Even cookies can be made with coconut sugar or monk fruit chips to up the ante on better choices than immune-crashing sugar.
Are you experiencing emotional toxicity? Are you carrying grudges from the past that reopen old wounds? Are you allowing people in your life that aren’t aligned with your wellbeing? Clear your emotional health with a journal entry or maybe even a direct conversation. Maybe you need to declare it as a “taking a break.” You can decide to stay on a break or tiptoe back into a relationship if there are new boundaries and rules agreed upon.
Get some exercise so your blood flows, even on a 20-minute-a-day walk. Don’t let yourself become stagnant.
Plan something fun, (games played with others online, or watching a favorite holiday movie) and look forward to it.
Conserve your precious energy. Don’t squander it. And stay enchanted!
