What Tastes Have Your Buds Buzzing?
Last month when we focused on the sense of smell with the Enchanted Key for Sensory Experiences, some of you shared beautiful messages. One was about the heart-touching scent of her departed husband’s after shave. Another woman shared that she, too, keeps a bottle of her departed mother’s perfume, and during especially stressful times, dabs some on her wrists to fortify and support her. Another is enjoying the scent of the magnificent magnolias in bloom. Another wrote, “Puppy breath.” Ah. Our senses inform us of so much and connect us to precious memories.
For June, think about what tastes you currently crave. With all things in moderation on this Enchanted Journey through life, have a taste of something that you love. Our preferences change over the years so allow yourself to try something you might not have previously liked…especially if it’s something good and healthy for you.
Currently I’ve been loving the fresh, sun-kissed snap peas that have been abundant in my garden. The combo of the bright green color and the crunch into the delicious pods that house each tiny, round green pea make for a delicious experience. Many of them don’t make it into the basket and go directly into my mouth. For those that do make it to the kitchen, we snack on them, raw, or lightly sauté them in Earth Balance plant-based butter with a sprinkle of pink salt. Yum.
I use pruning shears to snip each one, rather than pull them off with my hands, and there have been hundreds! As I snip each one, I whisper, “Thank you,” and I believe that the stalks have gifted me, in return, for expressing my gratitude both in quality and quantity . Try thanking your herbs, vegetables, or even flowers that you pick from the garden and witness the reciprocity from Mother Nature.
Let us know what tastes currently delight you.
And remember to always stay enchanted.
