What’s Your Favorite Smell This Week?
Last month I asked you about your current favorite sound. So many of you shared your responses. Each was unique and beautiful. A few included baby giggles, the wind, and a longtime teacher hearing the words from her students, “Oh! Now I get it!”
Today I invite you to breathe enchantment in deeply and exhale stress. Think about your current favorite scent that you can either actively smell as you take a moment to restore and reset your energy or one that you can recall as a savored sense memory.
I know that at least one of you has never had the sense of smell since birth, and others with COVID lost it, most, temporarily. It’s a good time to appreciate the sense of smell and/or all of our sensory experiences.
This weekend I’ll be baking the cake for one of my granddaughter’s first birthday! I was experimenting with frosting colors and showed them to my daughter who, instead of looking at them, closed her eyes and slowly drew in a breath. She opened her eyes and smiled, saying, “I love the smell of frosting!”
I saw the overlay on her face of her as a little girl at her own birthday parties. Her expression spoke of anticipation, excitement at the themed celebrations with family and friends, the presents, party clothes, special foods, and the cake! But in all of these years I never knew that she loves the smell of the frosting on the cake.
It makes me smile to think of that moment the other day and also surprises me to realize that in the mixology of the beauty in the colors of frosting I was creating, I never once was aware of the smell of it.
What is your current favorite smell this week? Please share. Team Enchantment loves to hear all of your wonderful responses.
Breathe deeply and stay enchanted.
