Have You Taken a Gratitude Shower?

Have you taken a Gratitude Shower?

Never heard of one?

Maybe that’s because I just made it up.

BUT, I’ve taken one each night this week.

Here’s how it works. I’ll share both variations and you can feel free to expand on them.

The first way is to prepare your shower with soap, shampoo, conditioner, that please you, and be sure to have handy a plush, cozy towel and/or robe for when you’re through. Then, mindfully step into the nice, warm/hot water and as you soap each part of your body you name it, e.g., “As I wash my left arm,” and then add, “I release all tensions from the day that may have accumulated there.” Then, “As I wash my right arm…” It all goes down the drain. Until you are scrubby clean.

Next, you stand under the water and name all that you are grateful for from the day. If it were especially stressful at work, you can be grateful that the work day ended. Just stream of consciousness gratitude… “I’m grateful for my child’s smile, grateful for one last fig on the tree, grateful for the cool breeze, grateful that my monk fruit chocolate chip pumpkin muffins came out so delicious, etc.…”

Then lovingly wrap your sweet self in a towel and put on your nightclothes.

(Can be interchanged with a morning shower, of course.)

The second option is to simply and consciously wash the day away and replace it with all of the gratitude you can muster.

You notably get clean, but you feel lighter and happier as well. Try it!

Stay enchanted!
