Is the Beauty of Your Garden at Stake?
You know the Enchanted Newsletter always offers something to nourish your mind, body, or soul. This week it covers all of the bases.
I love to share what’s up in the garden and today it involves garden stakes.
I discovered that buying rusted ones (some vendors will call them “oxidized,”) are must less expensive than the ceramic, hand painted ones. Iron reacts with water and oxygen to form hydrated iron(III) oxide, which we see as rust.
Rusted garden stakes can be put in the garden, as is, or lightly sanded, painted with acrylic paint and quickly sprayed (appropriate paint mask on, outdoors) and sealed. They’re good to go, even out in the rain.
So find the shapes you want, like butterflies, dragonflies, fairies, hearts and stars, and paint them just the shades you like, in a color scheme of your choice, and even sprinkle glitter, chunky or fine, like a dusting of icing on the top while the paint’s still wet.
I grouped the batch I just painted in one place for the photo, but I scatter them throughout my fairy gardens, herb, flower, and vegetable garden beds as well.
So have fun, save money, get creative, and stay enchanted!
