​Have You Been Introduced To Cake Strips?

Have you and cake strips met? I was just recently introduced and if you, or someone you know, are bakers you MUST make the introduction.

I wanted to make one of those 4 layer stacked cakes and just couldn’t get the look. My single layers each had a slight mound, or peak, at the center. I read that some bakers slice it off to achieve the look but then the exposed.area was all crumbly.

My youngest daughter, a fabulous baker in her own right, read about cake strips and ordered me a pair. (In my favorite color, purple, no less.) The results were amazing! It turns out that all that is necessary is to pre-soak the strips in water for 5 min. before putting a strip in a circle around the sides of each pan and cinching it snugly. As the cake bakes, the strips keep the sides of the cake cool so it doesn’t rise, unevenly, in the center. With the sides cooler, there is an even distribution and the layers become flat and stackable.

The strips are about $11 for two and are reusable.
