Gather Your Books For Summer Reading!
It’s that time of year! We’re between the “unofficial” start of summer on Memorial Day, and the “official” Summer Solstice, on June 20th, which is Father’s Day this year. Time to get your summer reading in order. Libraries are opening up and booksellers are displaying their books like delectable desserts in the window of a bakery shop.
What’s your favorite genre? Maybe choose a book in a genre you normally don’t read. Sci-Fi instead of Romance or a Biography of someone who sounds interesting to you could open you to new adventures!
I used to only read for fun at bedtime but lately, I’ve been carving out time and cozy nooks for reading during stolen moments during the day. While you’re scoping out books for your line-up, maybe also find cool places to read. For instance, take a photo of a great shade tree in a park, a coffee shop you haven’t been to, or a duck pond you never noticed before. When you have some time to read, make it a destination date with your book.
If you have kids or grandkids, get them off their electronic devices and get them interested in a good read. You may have to pack a picnic to make it even more enticing but it’s worth the effort. Read alongside of them, with them, to them, or have them read to you for a bit. It’s all so valuable.
Let’s bring back imagination as you picture the scenes that look different to every reader.
Nourish your body, mind, and soul with books and stay enchanted!
